Wrap Sheet:

It has been almost a year since we profiled The Dust and boy what a ride it has been. Since our first article the band has re-mastered their new CD Twenty-Two and they have hit the nail with the hillbilly hammer. This album has a lot of crunch, power and melodic transition to make a long distance run. The Dust has just finished a tour of California and have begun work at the home base on what I am sure will be their next smash hit project. I am dead serious when I say go check The Dust you are going to like them from Top to Bottom. These guys are energetic but as down to earth as anybody you might sit and talk with and that in my book makes them a favorite of The Twisted Hillbilly. So without further ado, fanfare or rhetoric I reintroduce to you some old friends, The Dust.

Horns,

Moe Hillbilly

Biography

Growing up in a small fishing town on a steady diet of metal and punk is what Matt Allen (bass), Josh Jasperson (guitar), and Brian Overfelt (vocals) have in common. Beginning in 1997, these three members of the The Dust started a project where they played many shows. Within a year of performing, they opened for Incubus at the Cocodrie and Papa Roach at the Maritime Hall. Even though the project ended, the friendships never did-- thus the possibility of a future band. A few years later, a new band emerged. With the recruitment of a new drummer, The Dust was born. They took the stage for the first time in May of 2003. The Dust has released a three-song demo and a full length album entitled Twenty-two. The sound is heavy while remaining dynamic. When you stand in front of their stage, you are struck by one thought: These guys are tight. With strong personal lyrics, catchy riffs, and a heaviness all their own, The Dust strives to entertain and inspire all who listen.
