TROLLFEST IN THE STUDIO TO RECORD FOURTH ALBUM. VIDEO UPDATE RELEASED

TROLLFEST, the Oslo-based black metallers who describe their music as True Norwegian Balkan Black Metal, recently entered the Strand Studio in Oslo to record the band’s fourth full-length album and have released an update on the proceedings via a video. In what has become something of a tradition with TROLLFEST, the whole recording process is once again being filmed by Manskow Productions and the first update contains interviews with various band members, as well as clips from the studio that give a taste of what can be expected from the new album. The band will be looking for a new label to release the album. The video can be seen on the band’s MySpace page at http://www.myspace.com/trollfest

With a line up that includes musicians from bands as varied as URGEHAL, PANTHEON I, UNTIME, MELCH, HALLUCINATIONS, POWERSWORD and SARKOM, TROLLFEST’s members bring with them not only a wealth of experience and the skill to make use of instruments like the accordion, the banjo and the saxophone, but also a sense of diversity that allows the band to create a sound that is distinctly its own. Whilst “True Norwegian Balkans Black Metal” goes some way towards describing the TROLLFEST sound - hinting as it does at the extreme end of metal, with a good pinch of local traditional folk - it doesn’t really go the whole way towards capturing the sense of fun and sheer exuberance with which the band tackles everything it does, whether it involves playing in the studio or performing live.

Commenting on the new album, guitarist Mr Seidel said: “As things stand now, and of course baring any unexpected inspiration that might come to us during the consumption of large quantities of alcoholic beverages, the new album will consist of nine tracks. Tracks, which, incidentally, we consider to be the most exotic tunes we’ve produced to date, and which, needless to say, will bear the all hallmarks of the usual over-the-top madness that the fans have come to love and expect from TROLLFEST!”

GERMANY’S ARRANGED CHAOS SIGNS WITH APOLLON RECORDS

GERMANY’S ARRANGED CHAOS SIGNS WITH APOLLON RECORDS

The German Metalcore Band ARRANGED CHAOS has inked a deal with the Netherlands based label Apollon Records, who is set to release the band’s first full-length album “As Time Goes Bye” in late spring of this year.

Founded in Leipzig, Germany, in the autumn of 2005 by drummer Patrick Küffner, guitarist Philipp Küffner, and then-bass player Ricardo, the band started life as GODFACE, and underwent the obligatory name and line up changes that most bands are subjected to, before settling on the name ARRANGED CHAOS. Guitarist Claudius Herbst joined the band following a jam session, and on his recommendation Felix Kießig (BLUTROT) was quickly added as vocalist. Encouraged by a rapidly growing and very enthusiastic fan base, ARRANGED CHAOS continued to work on new material, and the first demo “Unleashed” appeared in July 2008.

For the past year and a half ARRANGED CHAOS has concentrated on perfecting both the band’s own Metalcore sound and its stage presence, with a series of live performances, and participation in a number of national and international contests which saw the band consistently appear amongst the best finalists - an unusual feat for such an extreme metal band. Johannes Richter (NITROLYT (R.I.P.), MSL-BIGBAND) replaced the outgoing Ricardo on bass, and the current line up was completed in September of 2009.

Work is currently progressing on “As Time Goes Bye” and the title track can be heard on ARRANGED CHAOS’ MySpace page at http://www.myspace.com/arrangedchaos

Below you can see studio footage of ARRANGED CHAOS recording the track “No Tragedy” from the “Unleashed” Demo.

Nahash „Wellone Aeternitas“ re-released

One week since Svartthron's „Kraujo Estetika“ release, but Siauliai Black Metal forge Inferna Profundus Records is restless and has some more news for the extreme music maniacs. This time the label presents the new re-release of NAHASH „Wellone Aeternitas“ and continues the resurrection of band's best creations for the second life ( „Nocticula Hecate“ demo was re-released in 2007)

„Wellone Aeternitas“ - the first NAHASH full lenght album was first released in 1997 by French label „Drakkar Productions“. The album contains four compositions, which breathe with frost and darkness, filled with mysticism and supernaturality and have all the strongest features of occult Black Metal. Album was bought up in a very short time, when it first was released, so today „Wellone Aeternitas“ can be reputated as collector's rarity.

In collaboration with Inferna Profundus Records NAHASH decided to please all their fans, so since tommorow this masterpiece, which took the new shape is available for all who want to purchase it. The new re-release of „Wellone Aeternitas“ will have new sound quality: all sound re-mastering works were done by band leader Vytas ( Xe Xe Chax Heyatha Zhaiyrhous) at own „Ophis“ studio. Album listeners will also find never published „bonus“ song in the album, which was recorded in 1995 during „Wellone Aeternitas“ record session.

Album is released as CD with 8 page booklet. Artwork remained the same as original, so that it could reflect the spirit of the release, however the cd design has one nice feature – the playable side of the disk, made in non-traditional way will have visible occult symbols.

CD can be ordered directly from Inferna Profundus Records via e-mail. CD price 10 euros + 3 euros for p&p.

BYFROST SIGNS WITH PAINKILLER RECORDS

Netherlands based PAINKILLER RECORDS (a sub label of Apollon Entertainment UN Limited) has added Norwegian extreme metallers BYFROST to its roster, and will release the band’s debut full-length album “Black Earth” in the spring of 2010. A follow up to the self-released EP “Byfrostmetal”, track listing for “Black Earth” is as follows:

1. Horns to the Sky
2. Black Earth
3. Night of Damnation
4. Lord Victorious
5. Desire
6. Wings of the Angel of Death
7. Evil Arise
8. Skull of God

null

Bergen-based BYFROST started out in 2007 when Heavy Harms and R.I.P Meister decided to form a band that would create a sound from the of merging cold, dark riffs together with melodic ones. With HeavyHarms taking vocals, the two guitarists recruited a drummer and bass player and recorded and released the “Byfrostmetal” EP in 2008. Soon after, the four-piece became a three-piece with R.I.P Meister switching over to five-string bass, and HELLISH OUTCAST’s Alkolust taking over on drums.

With a permanent line up now in place, BYFROST went on to play live both locally and throughout Europe, and in 2009 began work on “Black Earth”. The album, which includes a guest appearance by ENSLAVED/AUDREY HORNE guitarist Arve Isdal on the track “Desire”, was recorded at the Conclave/Earshot Studios in Bergen, and produced by Herbrand Larsen (ENSLAVED) and Bjørnar E. Nilsen (VULTURE INDUSTRIES, BLACK HOLE GENERATOR). Artwork is currently being prepared by Christian Sloan Hall who has worked with artists such as TESTAMENT, DIMMU BORGIR, SLAYER etc.

EPISODE 13 - TRACK LISTING AND TITLE REVEALED FOR FOR THIRD FULL LENGTH ALBUM

EPISODE 13 - TRACK LISTING AND TITLE REVEALED FOR FOR THIRD FULL LENGTH ALBUM

Title and track listing have been announced for Black Metallers EPISODE 13’s upcoming album. “Death Reclaims The Earth” will be the follow up to 2009’s “Pitch Black” and will be the band’s third full-length album. Recording and mixing is currently under way at the Midasin Kulaklığı Studios in Ankara, and once completed, the album will be mastered at Sweden’s Necromorbus Studio, known for its work with bands like WATAIN, ONDSKAPT, FUNERAL MIST etc. Track listing for “Death Reclaims The Earth” as follows:

1 - Ars Moriendi
2 - Physical Comatose & Mental Overdose
3 - Unmensch
4 - Ignorance Is Bliss
5 - Ultimate Sterilization
6 - Worthless
7 - Spread His Word

null

“Death Reclaims The Earth” sees the return of vocalist Ozan Akyol, who, together with guitarist Murat and drummer Nursuz (ZIFIR), founded EPISODE 13 in 2001 (the band’s current line up includes Sermet Durusan on bass and Serkan Zengin on guitars). The front man took a temporary break from the band to complete his studies during the recording of “Pitch Black”, but although absent on vocals, his input on the sophomore album was still considerable. Three tracks from "Death Reclaims The Earth” were debuted at Norway’s Inferno Festival earlier this year, and Akyol, a brooding and compelling live performer, whose vocals add a chillingly sinister touch to the new material, had this to say about the forthcoming album: “We really used “Pitch Black” to move away from the melodic aspects of our debut “Tabula Rasa” because you can’t express brutality and contempt with pleasant keyboard interludes, and with “Death Reclaims The Earth” we can finally say that our sound accurately reflects our view of humanity”.

STROSZEK SOPHOMORE ALBUM HITS THE STREETS

STROSZEK SOPHOMORE ALBUM HITS THE STREETS

“Life Failures Made Music”, the sophomore album from STROSZEK, the acoustic project founded by FROSTMOON ECLIPSE’s Claudio Alcara, has been released on the God is Myth Records label. Along with Alcara on vocals and guitars, STROSZEK’s line up comprises Richard on drums and FROSTMOON ECLIPSE’s Davide on bass - a trio of musicians with a formidable amount of musical experience between them. A follow up to 2007’s “Songs of Remorse”, the new album comprises nine tracks. Track listing as follows:
null
1) The Unlucky Ones
2) Gone By The Fall
3) Undead Hotel
4) Turn The Sky To Winter
5) Nighthawks and Underdogs
6) I’ll Keep Everything
7) The Devil’s Chair
8) A Life’s Failure
9) Land of Silence and Darkness

Alcara is the guitarist and founder of FROSTMOON ECLIPSE, one of Italy’s original, and longest serving, Black Metal bands. With STROSZEK, however, he has always been able to successfully distance himself from the old-school black metal for which he is better know, and use his considerable skills as a guitarist and song writer to produce music that is richly melodic, hauntingly melancholic, and, at times, a crushingly sad commentary on his innermost thoughts and life experiences.

In addition to “Life Failures Made Music”, 2009 also saw STROSZEK release the “The Wild Hunt” EP, which hit the streets in September of this year and sold out within days of its release having been announced. Alcara is currently working on FROSTMOON ECLIPSE’s fifth full-length album.

VRANGSINN’S MISANTROF LABEL RELEASES PROFANE PRAYER DEMO

Dec 06, 2009 by moehillbilly | 10 Comments
VRANGSINN’S MISANTROF LABEL RELEASES PROFANE PRAYER DEMO

“Bloodred Fullmoon” the 2006 demo from Greek Black Metallers PROFANE PRAYER has been released by Misantrof, the label founded and headed by CARPATHIAN FOREST’s Daniel Vrangsin, through its Music Archives, the division of the “anti” label that was set up to house and release a historical music collection of rare, deleted, or difficult to find items, and includes material from bands such as DEATHCULT, ORCUSTUS, NIDINGR and AMOK, amongst others. Like all Misantrof releases, PROFANE PRAYER’s “Bloodred Fullmoon” is available for free download, together with artwork and band photos at http://profaneprayer.misantrof.net/ Track listing as follows:

1. Bloodred Fullmoon
2. Sorrow
3. Pain Is Taking Shape
4. Apocalyptic

null

Formed in 2005 by guitarist G, vocalist The Saint (HORDES OF DECAY) and drummer/guitarist THC (HORDES OF DECAY), PROFANE PRAYER’s lineup now includes Sick Mind on bass. Drawing its early inspiration from traditional Black Metal bands such as CARPATHIAN FOREST and DARKTHRONE, PROFANE PRAYER has spent the intervening years developing its own sound and cutting its teeth on the local scene, regularly supporting bands like SEPTIC FLESH, THE HAUNTED, DESTRUCTION, and MOONSORROW. The band has just finished recording and mastering the debut full-length album “Eye of Sin”.

Talking about the collaboration with Misantrof, G commented: “We had run a special promotion offering the demo for just postage costs in September and had a lot of takers, so we suggested to our manager that we make it available for free download on MySpace. Since MySpace sound quality is pretty bad, she wasn’t too taken with the idea, and instead played it to Vrangsinn, who she also manages, and he liked it enough to offer us a release through the Archives. That’s a much more satisfactory way of doing things. We have the support and facilities offered by Misantrof, and, more importantly, the material is available in the highest possible sound quality. Considering that one of the reasons we started off as musicians in the first place was CARPATHIAN FOREST, who our manager also works with, it’s quite a coincidence how everything has worked out. ”

PROFANE PRAYER will also feature on Misantrof’s “Holy Fucking Antichristmas 2009” compilation, which will be released on December 13. The track, which was especially written for the compilation and was recorded and mastered by George Bokos at the Basement Studios in Athens, will receive its live debut on the 20th December, when the band appears at the 10th anniversary concert for the Metal Eagle Magazine at the Sin City Club in Athens. BLACK METALLERS VALFEANOR RELEASE SOPHOMORE ALBUM

BLACK METALLERS VALFEANOR RELEASE SOPHOMORE ALBUM

Austrian Black Metallers VALFEANOR have released their sophomore album on Swiss label Black Tower Productions. Titled “Noreia”, the album is named after the ancient city in the Eastern Alps, whose location is much disputed, and is often thought to have been situated in the Austrian region of Styria, where VALFEANOR is based. The ten-track album is the follow up to VALFEANOR’s 2007 release “En Ny Tid”. Track listing as follows:
1. Noreia
2. Christian Eclipse
3. Emptiness/Dolorosus/Hate
4. A Wintry Sea
5. Glacially Ancient Existence
6. Forsaken
7. Aeon Der Schatten
8. Soil of Wisdom
9. Region des Nebels und des Regens
10. Deepression
null

Founded in 2002 by Desderoth, VALFEANOR is based around a nucleus of Desderoth himself on vocals, bass and keyboards, and Isiul on guitars and backing vocals, with session drummer Skull being drafted in for recording. Both Desderoth and Isiul are also members of the Austrian Black Metal band HELLSAW.

“Noreia”, with its rawer vocals and old school black metal sound, signals a significant departure from VALFEANOR’s debut album, which was loosely based around fantasy themes and was much more melodic in concept. Commented Desderoth: “Basically, both albums represent different styles that I wanted to experiment with, and it is not the intention of this band to limit itself in what terms of what it writes or plays. The third album has now been written, and we will most probably start recording guitars in January, and it will again be different from what came before. Let’s just say”, Desderoth comments somewhat tongue in cheek, “it was written during a period when I was going through a particularly bad time in my life, so I managed to get a lot of it out of my system by doing a fair amount of “trashing”.

The “US Plague Tour” moved!

Nov 24, 2009 by moehillbilly | 3 Comments
The “US Plague Tour”, featuring MARDUK, NACHTMYSTIUM, BLACK ANVIL, MANTIC RITUAL, and MERRIMACK that was scheduled to stop at the Key Club on Friday, December 4th, has been moved, due to the Key Club closing it doors to re-model. The new location for the show, is the Salon Royal (Royal Hall) in downtown, located at 8637 South Alameda Street, Los Angeles, CA 90002. Parking is provided, with an entrance through the “Steel and Lube” entrance.
A statement from Jordan of Church of the 8th Day, the promoters for the show:
“Since everyone has been asking, what and where the Royal Hall is, I wanted to explain, and send something out to clear things up. The Key Club canceled the show, about two weeks ago, leaving us just a few weeks to move it. Since we had two stages worth of bands booked, it was near impossible to move the show to anywhere in Hollywood, at a reputable club, as everything was already booked. We found a place in downtown, which is a banquet hall, and we are going to build it into a venue from the ground up, with two full stages and great sound, full bar, and a BBQ. There have been numerous events held there, including the Bestial Legion Fest. If you purchased tickets through one of the local bands, your tickets will still be valid at the new venue. If you purchased your tickets through TicketMaster, you should be receiving your refund any day. The Key Club said they will be issuing refunds, but they haven't been responding to us about the progress of it, so if you'd like to call and find out, go ahead. You can now purchase tickets exclusively through our new ticketing website, 8thDayTix.com. We're sorry about the confusion, and hope to see everyone there. More information can be found at www.churchofthe8thday.com.”
