We at the Twisted Hillbilly Magazine, would like to thank GEN, The GENITORTURERS and
ADRENALINE PR for their time and efforts in getting us the access for this interview and the
coverage of the ASHEVILLE, N.C. show. The answers are not word for word and are accurate to
the very best of our ability. Thanks GEN, You're AWESOME !!!!
Moe and Skip
Q) So what was it like coming on the music scene back in the early 1990s and having an opener
with ya named Marilyn Manson and the Spooky Kids ?
A) The "scene" was South Miami and back in those days it was "not so chic". As you mentioned
Marilyn and the Spooky Kids were opening for us. It was a great time. They were doing things
with Chocolate syrup. (notably, GEN didn't go into that too much :)
Q)Any new directions/twists in the new release"Black Heart Revolution"; Any information to impart
about the new effort?
A) It's a part of the on going Saga. A new chapter to suit the body of work. Very hard and aggressive;
really "KICKS ASS". ( Skip:A point I can attest to from first hand experience now)
Q) Out of curiosity, how long have you been married?
A) 15 years :o) (I could almost hear the grin in her answer). We've been playing together about that long
as well. My husband is also the bass player in MORBID ANGEL, who has a new album coming
out, by the way.
Q) Who was the wildest bunch of MFs you ever toured with?
A) That would probably be DANZIG when we were touring our 120 Days album. There was lots of
partying and prank pulling, back and forth.
Q) Do you have any pets (Can be animal or human;o) ?
A) Yes; I have 2 Boxers (dogs). Interestingly, we got them from a rescue in the Appalachians. We
also have some other ties to the mountains, like a homestead. (Skip: Near us on Metal Mountain, I knew
she was a Twisted Hillbilly like the rest of us:o)
Q)(Side Note: I found this answer tantalizing) Any tour plans with other notable bands on the horizon?
A) Let's just say somethings are being talked about and we're not ready to release any details at this point.
Q) I realize, from my homework, that your influences are varied and many, but who would you say, "LIT
YOUR FUSE", you know, made ya throw the horns and "make the face"?
A) I guess I'd say AC/DC. I was also into the Hardcore Punk scene, so The SEX PISTOLS and PLASMATICS
come vividly to mind as well.
Q) What inspires you so, that you have been able to keep it together and keep going for nearly, if not all of,
18 years, when so many others have just come and gone ?
A) Simply, we really have lots of fun doing this. We are personally entertained by the process and performance.
There is an amazing transfer, or "give and take" that happens between the audience and the band.
Q) Who's music are you listening to for enjoyment these days ?
A) I'm enjoying DANKO JONES a bit as of late. You (Y'all) should check it out. Great stuff.
Q) Why do you think is the reason that the central to south Florida area is such a fetish hub, maybe the largest
on the east coast?
A) Probably things like the fact that there is a good support structure, and entities like the FETISH FACTORY and
others that keep energy and activity in the scene. It's a sunny place which also lends to the more open attitudes
that allow it to exist alongside the mainstream.
Q) Do you have any particular extraciricular hobbies/ distractions that keep you "sane" on the road ?
A) Truly, the show, in itself, is enough distraction and is a labor of love that keeps us focused. Ther's really not
enough time, nor a need for other "Hobbie" when we tour.
Q) Anything you like to "put out" to the fans out there; new happenings in the GENITORTURERS world?
A) We have a COLLECTIBLE VINYL set coming out. (She's a big fan of vinyl, as are we at the Twisted Hillbilly, and has
an intact collection) The albums will be available in 3 "flavors" (editions). (Y'all get these when ya can, They'll be cool as hell)
