Downslave
I had the good fortune of catching DOWNSLAVE at CLUB CATALYST in Knoxville, Tn's Old City this past Wednesday. The band has a lot of energy and the sound is a real "fuse lighter". The opening song set the tone and the tone was METAL!!! I found the opening licks and indeed their entire set reeking influences like Sabbath, Judas Priest, and other early genre bands. It was refreshing to hear those sounds again. Don't get me wrong, DOWNSLAVE may make Ole Skip feel reminiscent of times gone by, but their sound is all their own. It is hardcore and raw, but with the edge of refinement the influence bands I mentioned, personify. We look forward to watching them do the hard work and make the journey toward "The Dream".
